In challenging times, I am thankful for laughter and for a 20 month old who makes me laugh every day. His personality is huge. He is strong-willed and muy independent. He never slows down for a second while he is awake. He is a joker. He likes to hide. He loves to laugh and to swing and to play outside. He loves his dad. Actually, he loves his whole family, especially his four grandparents, his uncle Rob and his aunt Nissa. Animals make him smile and say "mas." Today he used his first verb. He wanted me to put on his sandals and he said "shoes. put off." well, he meant on but he said off. Yay for put! The first verb. The past three nights he has wanted to drink juice on the back deck with his shirt off before bed. We have indulged him. Nice belly.
He turned half of an Easter egg he found into a clown nose.

Today was a special day because the Feather and Stevens families met for the first time. Jaime and Rob are getting married August 28th so it was about time for a gathering. It could not have been more fun -- we relaxed on the back deck and got to know each other over coffee and brownies. The kiddos provided some entertainment. We are all so excited about Jaime and Rob's togetherness. Here is Leslie holding Halle.

The azaleas in our yard are in full bloom right now. It only lasts for two weeks, but man oh man it's beautiful.
I loved holding my little dude, who now says dude, while he watched baby signing time. Recently he has said Halle pretty clearly. He also says catch, again, bye daddy, cup daddy when looking at his dad's coffee cup, coffee, cook, cookie, mas cookie, kick, arbol, mantequilla is "quequilla", como estas is "stas", pup, kitty, moon, grits, fish is "fee-ish", and much more. Mas is still his favorite word.
Darlene - Harriette and Woody's dear friend - came to visit from Colorado. Erik loves her. We were all so glad to see her! Here she is holding Halle. She and Harriette had such a fun time catching up. They manage to laugh a lot while together.
